1-Start regedit. ( Note: To Start Regedit Click Start --> Run and type regedit
2-Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/lnkfile
3-Delete the IsShortcut registry value.
4-You may need to restart Windows XP.

Remove the Shortcut Arrows from Desktop Icons
Here's how you can remove those shortcut arrows from your desktop icons in Windows XP.
